Meet the Usage Needs of the Whole Family – Test Drive of the Long Range Version of Landian E5 PLUS
Recently, the Lande E5 PLUS was officially launched. The new vehicle will introduce multiple models for consumers to choose from, including 5-seat and 7-seat versions, as well as basic range, standard range, and long range models. The price range is from 99,800 yuan to 135,800 yuan. Positioned as a city, family-oriented, and long-range vehicle, does its performance match what the official claims? Today, we’ll take it for a test drive to see how the Lande E5 PLUS 165km long range version actually performs.
In terms of exterior design, the new vehicle will adopt a closed front face styling, which can also minimize the wind resistance coefficient to the greatest extent. The shape of the front bumper is quite angular, and side air vents are designed on both sides to use the air flow in front to cool the brakes and improve aerodynamics.
The new vehicle will feature a through-type headlight group design. The through light strip in the middle is not the daytime running light but the width indicator light. During the day when driving, the daytime running light is in the headlight group, and when the headlights are turned on at night, the recognition degree of the entire headlight group is relatively high.
The lines on the side of the vehicle body are quite rich. The high waistline runs through to the rear of the vehicle, making the vehicle look younger and more fashionable. The length, width, and height of the new vehicle are 4760/1865/1710 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2785 mm. Defined as a medium-sized SUV, such dimensions allow the vehicle to have two layout styles of 5 seats and 7 seats.
The Lande E5 PLUS will be equipped with 19-inch dual five-spoke wheel hub designs, which are designed in a staggered manner and paired with wire-drawing silver decorations, looking quite fashionable. It is matched with 235/50 R19 tires, which can take into account both the vehicle’s passing ability and ensure the driving comfort of the vehicle.
The new vehicle does not adopt the hidden door handle design but uses the traditional style, which also ensures practicality. More silver decorative strips will be used on the side, including positions such as the window frames and the lower door guards. The vehicle is also equipped with a roof luggage rack and a panoramic sunroof, which are very useful configurations for friends who often go on self-driving tours.
The design of the rear part of the vehicle has its own characteristics. Although it also adopts a through-type taillight group, the taillights on both sides have more designs in them. Especially when lit up, the combination of three arcs and T-shaped light strips also makes the vehicle more recognizable.
Since the entire taillight group is designed on the trunk, a separate set of taillights is also designed on the rear bumper. In this way, when the trunk is opened at night, the taillight group below can be lit up seamlessly, which also ensures the safety of users to the greatest extent. As a plug-in hybrid version vehicle, the exhaust of the Lande E5 PLUS uses a hidden layout design.
The interior part adopts a minimalist design style. There are hardly any physical buttons in the car. More functions are placed on the 15.6-inch screen in the middle. It is equipped with the HUAWEI HiCar 4.0 intelligent cockpit, and its technological attributes are no less than those of its competitors.
The screen as a whole operates very smoothly and can support functions such as online navigation, entertainment, mobile phone interconnection, voice interaction, and OTA upgrades. Moreover, the voice interaction can also achieve continuous control of multiple instructions, including air conditioning, car windows, seats, music, sunroof, etc., all of which can be directly operated through voice interaction.
The UI design of the entire vehicle-mounted system is quite user-friendly. The functions we often use are placed at the bottom of the screen, and it also supports custom settings. We can place the functions we want or often use in the positions we like, and it is quite playable.
The vehicle will use a three-spoke steering wheel. The multifunctional buttons on it are physical buttons, which can avoid the possibility of misoperation to the greatest extent. At the same time, after getting familiar with it, blind operation can also be easily achieved. However, this vehicle is only equipped with the cruise control function, which is a bit unsatisfactory.
However, this vehicle still has some small novelties in the interior. The one-key start button of the vehicle is designed on the far left of the center console. You may feel a bit uncomfortable when using it for the first time. The vehicle will use the shift-by-wire gear shifting method, which makes the central tunnel have more storage space.
Two mobile phone storage slots are designed on the upper layer of the central tunnel, and they support 50W wireless fast charging for mobile phones. Behind them are cup holders and the central armrest box. The overall space on the second layer is relatively large. The cigarette lighter and data cable interfaces are all designed on the second layer.
The seat comfort of the Lande E5 PLUS is indeed relatively high. Whether it is support or softness and hardness, it has reached the leading level in its class. Moreover, the front seats of the vehicle support electric adjustment, seat heating, and seat ventilation functions, which can effectively improve our riding comfort.
The second-row seats adopt a 4/6 split layout and support front and rear adjustment and backrest angle adjustment, which can meet the usage needs of different passengers. The performance of the second-row seating space is just so-so. After all, the wheelbase is fixed here, and space also needs to be reserved for third-row passengers. The seats of the 7-seat version can be folded quickly, which is convenient for third-row passengers to get in and out of the vehicle.
The overall seating space of the third-row seats is relatively cramped, especially the legroom. If it is for temporary use or for children to sit, there is not much of a problem. But if you sit for a long time, you are likely to feel tired.
However, the trunk space of this vehicle is indeed quite satisfactory to us. Even when the third row is opened, several carry-on suitcases can still be placed here. After the third-row seats are folded up, the entire floor is in a flat state. After the second-row seats are folded up, the space of the entire trunk is really large.
The Lande E5 PLUS will adopt the plug-in hybrid drive form. The engine displacement is 1.5L, with a maximum power of 70kW. The maximum power of the electric motor is 160kW, and the maximum torque is 330N·m. The official zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 7.8s. In terms of range, the vehicle we tested today is the long-range model, with a maximum pure electric range of 165km and a combined range of 1300km when the fuel tank is full and the battery is fully charged, which is completely sufficient for our daily use.
The first feeling when driving the vehicle as a whole is that it is light. Whether it is the accelerator pedal or the steering wheel, they are both very light. Even if a woman drives it, there will be no sense of fatigue at all. This vehicle also provides multiple driving mode options. When the sports mode is used, the overall acceleration feeling of the vehicle is quite strong. Even in the middle and later stages, it can still burst out with sufficient power.
The new vehicle will provide multiple energy mode options, including forced power preservation, pure electric priority, intelligent mode, and fuel priority mode. Meanwhile, kinetic energy recovery and steering modes are also adjustable in multiple gears, which can also meet the usage needs of different consumers or in different scenarios.
The Lande E5 PLUS will be equipped with the FSD suspension adaptive adjustment system, which is rarely seen in its class. We can also feel during actual driving that when the vehicle passes through speed bumps, the suspension will obviously become softer, which can better eliminate excessive impacts. And when we are driving on mountain roads, the suspension can bring us better support to ensure the riding comfort of the passengers in the vehicle.
The performance of the vehicle in terms of quietness is also remarkable. The control of wind noise is actually very good. When we are driving at 120km/h, we can hardly hear any wind noise in the vehicle, and the tire noise is also very small. However, the noise reduction of the entire chassis is not so excellent, especially the rear wheel part. The impact sound of the gravel rolled up on the chassis is still quite obvious.
As a plug-in hybrid version vehicle, when the vehicle is driving in pure electric mode, the interior of the vehicle is very quiet. However, when the engine starts, we can still clearly hear the working sound of the engine in the vehicle. If the noise in this aspect can be dealt with a little bit, it will be more perfect.
